We are getting older, and our worst fear is what happens when we can’t take care of ourselves or are unsafe doing it. The changes that occur with aging challenge our independence, creating the probable need for assistance in day-to-day, non-medical activities. The assistance may be as minimal as companionship and safety oversight while the client plays golf or goes on a shopping excursion, or as maximal as 24-hour care for clients who are unsafe to be alone. It is a service provided by a licensed organization that provides non-medical care to clients in a variety of settings. This care is customized to meet the desires and needs of the client. Home care has been described as extension of the client’s family, being available when family members are unable. It has also been termed as the personal assistant services model, keeping the client engaged and independent as much as possible. Interview agencies discussing your needs and expectations to make sure they are a good fit.

Many home care organizations expect the client to adapt to their service model, which is somewhat generic and status quo instead of creating a tailored or concierge model for each and every client. You are paying for great services that should fit your individual needs and meet your expectations. Home care organizations must provide the service and experience that makes every client feel like they are the most important individual receiving their services while meeting their needs.
