In a recent interview with Dr. Robert Lockwood M.D. and Dr. Kyle Rickner M.D., they shared their passion for clinical research and working with Tekton Research.

Why clinical research/ How did you get into the field?

Dr. Robert Lockwood: I got interested in clinical research at a previous employer, they presented the opportunity to start doing that in our current clinical setting, which was just a general family practice clinic. Since I have a background in engineering and science, I was really interested in doing something that would sort of like forward medicine, take us forward a little bit.

That’s kind of where I got the interest and then we just basically, at that point, started talking about what kind of studies we’d want to do, and I was really interested in doing studies that would impact my family medicine patients.

Why should someone participate in a study?

Dr. Kyle Rckner: I think there’s a lot of reasons people want to participate; you know one of the reasons I like to participate is I like to always know what’s new and happening and what’s being developed, and some patients are very interested in that as well.

There are a lot of patients that are very interested because they want to contribute to science and they realize that this is actually a small step or a way they can contribute to help other people. Then as I alluded to, it’s also a way for them to receive interventions that could really make a personal difference in their own health and so there’s a lot of good reasons for patients to consider it.
